Marketing and Branding Coco Chanel The WritePass Journal

Showcasing and Branding Coco Chanel 1.0 Introduction Showcasing and Branding Coco Chanel ). 2.3 Brand execution 2.3.1 Applied showcasing blend (4p’s) The exhibition of the brand in its industry could be clarified subsequent to assessing the key components of the showcasing procedure utilized for the advancement of the specific brand. By and by, accentuation is given to four of these components, which as otherwise called 4Ps (Burrow, 2008). The specific components establish a very known structure, the showcasing blend (Burrow, 2008). The 4Ps remembered for the showcasing blend allude to explicit parts of an advertising procedure. At the principal level, reference is made to Product. The term Product, as a major aspect of the promoting blend, reflects an article, as an appeared component, yet in addition the different attributes of the item/item, for example, ‘value, bundling strategies and materials and brand name’ (Lamb and McDaniel, 2011: 47). Spot is the second component of showcasing blend; the particular term means the topographical region where the item is accessible or in which the item is intended to section (L amb and McDaniel, 2011). The term Place likewise mirrors the methods utilized by a firm for disseminating its items globally or locally (Fifield, 2008). The achievement of an item in a specific market is relied upon the Promotion methodology utilized, for example on the methods and the methodologies utilized for making the objective customers mindful of the particular item (Satit et al., 2012). At long last, the Price of an item must be chosen mulling over different components, for example, the GDP in the objective market, the market’s segment qualities/normal salary and the status of the nearby economy (Lee, Cheng and Chen, 2008). On the off chance that the advertising blend utilized with respect to an item isn't properly arranged, at that point target buyers would not be relied upon to purchase the item. The connection between the promoting blend and the buyer inclinations is introduced in Figure 3 (Appendices). Then again, advertising blend ought to be organized in such ma nner with the goal that it can react to real shopper needs, as these necessities are reflected during the 4Cs structure; the connection between the two systems is introduced in Figure 4 (Appendices). The issues featured above ought to be utilized while depicting the promoting blend of Coco Channel. At the primary level, as far as its Product, the specific brand is portrayed by remarkable quality (Ma, 2014). Truth be told, quality includes in all parts of the brand’s item, which means the materials of the items as well as the materials utilized in the products’ bundling (Ma, 2014). For instance, on account of Chanel No.5 the uniqueness of the item was made sure about by utilizing an inventive name and by utilizing a special amalgamation of fragrances (Sicard, 2013). Likewise, the particular brand is identified with a nation notable for the nature of its beautifying agents and attire: France (Ma, 2014). The possibilities of the brand to be extended worldwide have been constrained as a result of the accompanying need: a considerable lot of the brand’s items must be bolstered by proper client administrations plans. Along these lines, the selling purposes of the b rand’s items are chosen on the premise whether they can have an immediate and close reference to France, as the wellspring of these items (Ma, 2014). As to its Promotion technique the particular brand can be described as remarkable: regular showcasing alternatives are joined with less famous advertising approaches for drawing in the consumers’ intrigue. For instance, in its underlying stage the promoting of Chanel No.5 has been founded for the most part on ‘word of mouth marketing’ (Sicard, 2013: 159). Likewise, the commercials identified with the particular brand are probably going to be remembered for media and press that are very well known in the style business, as ‘Elite and Vogue’ (Ma, 2014: 48). Be that as it may, the high caliber of the brand’s item has been made sure about by embracing significant expenses, a methodology which is considered true to form by which has set cutoff points to the expansion of the brand’s notor iety (Ma, 2014). 2.3.2 Segmentation, focusing on and situating (STP) For guaranteeing the viability of an advertising system utilized for advancing a brand advertisers need to create three, key, exercises: division, focusing on and situating (STP). As a major aspect of promoting, Segmentation mirrors the exertion of advertisers to partition a market into parts/sections; every one of these portions would allude to purchasers with basic attributes, for example, age, conjugal status, etc (Cant et al., 2009). By fragmenting a market advertisers can create showcasing techniques that would be invited by the objective customers (Cant et al., 2009). Be that as it may, so as to react to the desires for advertisers, division should be following by focusing on. With regards to showcasing the term focusing on is utilized for demonstrating the distinguishing proof of the market sections that will be tended to by a promoting system (Boone and Kurtz, 2013). For instance, the choice to address just youngsters among the individuals living in the objective market is a case of focusing on. With respect to situating, the particular term is utilized for indicating the exertion of advertisers ‘to place an item in the psyche of consumers’ (Boone and Kurtz, 2013: 98). Various methodologies are probably going to be utilized by advertisers to accomplish situating, as this action can make sure about buyer dependability (Boone and Kurtz, 2013). On account of Chanel, STP could be accomplished by utilizing different methodologies. For instance, with respect to the specific brand showcase division could be founded on the perspectives on purchasers concerning extravagance items. This implies worldwide market would be separated into parts dependent on the normal view of purchasers on extravagance items; the assessment of these discernments could be founded on extravagance esteem as of its different measurements (Figure 5, Appendices). The market division for Coco Chanel could be additionally based, then again, on the recurrence of utilization of extravagance items (Ciornea, Pop and Bacila, 2012, Figure 6, Appendices). Focusing on and situating for the specific brand could be created utilizing comparative rules. All the more explicitly, as to focusing on the advertisers of Coco Chanel should mull over the accompanying actuality: because of the significant expenses of its items the specific brand couldn't focus on every single soc ial gathering, as could be created utilizing focusing on. For instance, youngsters would not be a proper objective gathering for the brand’s items. As of situating likewise there are sure issues that ought to be tended to: so far the brand has become equivalent word of value; additionally, since its appearance in the market the brand has been among the top brands in its industry. In this manner, the best methodology for situating this brand would stress on ‘product’s class and on cost/quality’ (Boone and Kurtz, 2013: 298). 2.3.3 Brand outline When alluding to mark outline reference is made to the graphical components utilized for introducing the brand to the general population. For instance, serious hues could be utilized in a brand’s logo for drawing in the consideration of purchasers (Shimp and Andrews, 2013). What's more, images that signify a specific trait of a brand could be utilized for making the brand progressively alluring to general society (Kumar, 2009). All together for a brand’s outline to be fruitful it ought not follow basic examples, particularly those identified with the business in question (Kumar, 2009). Regardless, the logo of the brand has not really to mirror the job of the brand in the business however it needs to offer a view on the brand’s culture, as this culture would show to the open the qualities and morals on which the production of the brand has been based. The logo of Coco Channel depends altogether on the name of its maker. The structure and the components of the part icular logo intend to show the cozy connection between the brand and its creator’s values; effortlessness is additionally another issue featured through the logo of the above brand (Figure 1, Appendices). Starting here of view, it could be upheld that the brand outline utilized on account of Coco Channel can be described as very effective, advancing straightforwardness and indicating the basic job of the brand’s maker in brand’s achievement. 2.3.4 Detail assessment, basic viewpoint †SWOT investigation Likewise with most business systems the viability of a firm’s marking choices is generally chosen in the wake of checking the qualities of the brand in question; the presentation of the brand in its market has additionally to be contemplated for choosing whether a brand has been fruitful or not (Davis, 2010). On account of Coco Chanel the SWOT structure could be utilized for assessing the brand’s execution. The Strengths of the specific brand are for the most part identified with its image name and its relationship to quality (Carr, 2012). Indeed, the particular brand has figured out how to set up a special culture, a culture dependent on ‘the soul of its creator’ (Kapferer, 2008: 252). With regards to this culture, high caliber in apparel would be considered not as a remarkable condition but instead as a component of day by day life (Kapferer, 2008). The high development of the brand in the worldwide market, when contrasted with other extravagance brands, is another significant quality of the brand (Carr, 2012). Be that as it may, the brand has a significant Weakness: the cost of its item is very high, not permitting a high level of shoppers to purchase the brand’s items (Carr, 2012). Then again, the specific brand meets all the necessities of an extravagance brand (Figure 7, Figure 8, Appendices). This implies the particular brand has significant Opportunities for future development. In any case, there is the issue of nonstop downturn. Monetary turbulences in the worldwide market co

In 1997 the first LCC (Low Cost Carrier), the Ryanair started its activity, and in a couple of years a couple of more followed, which gave the national and system aircrafts another issue to the current financial issue, contracting business sector and others, for example, 9/11. By today the adjustments in the previous two decades have moved and enhanced the business, which was at one time a develop and to some level declining in structure. The new guidelines, organizations, financial specialists and purchasers have brought new life, the industry indeed develop with divided attributes. The perfect device for the appraisal of the carriers business is Michael Porters five power model. It means to discover and show the powers in the microenvironment which impact the business, inward and outer also. Danger of new contestants (hindrances to section) ¢High capital speculation ? ¢Capital concentrated ? ¢Airport opening accessibility ? ¢Predatory valuing ? ¢Brand faithfulness/long standing customer ? ¢Economies of scale ? Set number of courses ^ The risk of new participants, because of the hindrances generally set by the idea of the business and by the current organizations, are exceptionally low. However here and there when the chance emerges, new organizations start: in the previous barely any years numerous national organizations failed leaving a market to take by the current organizations or new upstarts. Bartering in tensity of providers ¢Aircraft makers ¢Relatively low number of providers ^ ¢Suppliers are concentrated ^ ¢Airlines are esteemed clients ? ¢Airports ¢Slot accessibility ^ ¢Alternatives to the essential air terminals ? The haggling intensity of providers is generally two-legged, and both have a medium danger. For the two gatherings it is ideal to discover a commonly working arrangement on a long haul, since it is an industry with generally modest number of players loosing even one can affect the two sides. Risk of substitutes ¢Alternative vehicle (transport, vehicle, train) ^ ¢Videoconferencing ^ ¢Global ecological mindfulness ^ The danger of substitutes incorporates an expansive assortment for the various needs. With everything taken into account it still just gives a medium danger, since the brisk vehicle to a separation has no other option. Be that as it may, these days with more other options and the ever-arriving at web and online networking an awful consumer loyalty can be a debacle. This can anyway be relieved with client direction, yet at the same time client had the decision, it is a medium elevated level. Competition inside the business ¢Between LCC and national/organize aircrafts ^ ¢Between LCCs ^ The contention inside the business is high because of the high number of large and medium estimated organizations. The carriers business is profoundly serious, with exceptionally high boundaries and medium to high dangers inside. While there is a generally low risk from another market dish, the current worldwide rivalry is battling about all the assets: more and better air terminals potentially with commonly barring agreements, getting the clients tired of their past bearer or beginning a value war on a chose goal, restricting the recently aquired flyers with brand dependability programs. Except if there is a chance, it's anything but an appealing industry to enter because of the high number of obstructions. In any case, when built up a foot, it is an intriguing and exceptionally serious industry with great prospects. The major LCCs relying upon how minimal effort they are making acceptable benefit and there is still space for development. The key variables for progress ought to include: ¢Efficiently using the assets (money related, time, HR) ¢Utilizing a system of colleagues (integral) ¢Timely extension (attempting new goals, expanding recurrence) ¢Customer direction (with following patterns eg. ocial media) These above ought to be seen by both LCCs and customary aircrafts. Creative Writing Jobs A Writer’s Options

Creative Writing Jobs Creative Writing Jobs Don’t quit your day job. How many times have writers been told this by friends and family when discussing their ambitions to â€Å"make it† as a creative writer? The truth of the matter is that there are a wide variety of creative writing jobs out there—you just have to know where to look. In this article, we’ll take a look at a number of creative writing jobs that may just become your next day job! Creative Writing Jobs: Published Author In most people’s minds, the most ubiquitous of the creative writing jobs out there is to become a published author through a well-established publishing house. If you’re a fiction writer, you may not get picked up by one of the larger publishing houses right out of the gate. But if you’re prolific, you can earn a decent living. The barriers can be a little steep, especially considering all the work it takes to create a well-written novel  or a non-fiction work that is sellable. For more on traditional publishing, check out our in-depth article on How to Publish a Book. This topic is also discussed by our resident writer P.J. Aitken, in his traditionally published book The Online Writer’s Companion. Creative Writing Jobs: Self-Publishing Of course, if you are more independent minded, self-publishing is one of the creative writing jobs that you, well, create yourself! Nowadays, you can easily create your own works—whether they are fiction or non-fiction—and bootstrap your way into generating legitimate sales through retailers like Amazon and Ingram Spark. Self-publishing goes beyond just books and ebooks. Some authors with a popular following use a subscription service for their serialized content. This helps them monetize their writing without the pressure of creating a finished work. Other writers simply ask for crowdfunded solutions from their audience via a â€Å"Donate† button or using a platform like Patreon. By adding exclusive content, you can dictate the course of your career at your whim. As a side benefit to self-publishing, your finished works can help persuade traditional publishers to pick up your work; persuade literary agents to work with you; or display your skills to employers should you be looking for steady employment. Creative Writing Jobs: Content-Generator It may be a buzzword you’ve heard lately, but one of the many creative writing jobs available is working as a â€Å"content-generator†. Essentially, it is a fancy name for a commercial writer. But you do get a chance to expand your creativity. Often, you’ll be contracted to write something called a â€Å"white paper†. This is â€Å"an authoritative report or guide that informs readers concisely about a complex issue and presents the issuing bodys philosophy on the matter.† In other words, it’s a â€Å"how-to† or â€Å"what’s this†. Consider each white paper that you write a creative writing lesson in and of itself. Here are a few examples of a content-generator in action: Persuade the reader to discover the merits of Icelandic spring water vs. tap water Explain in laymen’s terms how a percolating coffee machine works What’s a good metaphor for using brown sugar vs. refined sugar in the beer-brewing process? It may not be the most inspiring work that you’ve undertaken, but you can apply these same concepts down the road when you choose to focus on your â€Å"real work†. Think of this as an internship for your other literary ambitions. Creative Writing Jobs: Copyediting One way to become a better writer is to be sift out all of the mistakes in other’s work—and get paid for it! Copyediting isn’t just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. There are elements of every copyediting gig where you are exercising the same muscles as you would for any number of creating writing jobs. For instance, you will have the opportunity to research the best ways to fact-check articles, or check for endemic grammatical errors that distract the reader from the story. You gain a keen insight into how a writer actually developed their work and where their weaknesses lies. And considering that more and more content is being produced with each passing day, there’s always a shortage of skilled copyeditors. â€Å"Adjacent† Skills Any writer will tell you that there’s more to the career than just putting words down on the page. In fact, writers can benefit from something I’ve coined called â€Å"adjacent† skills. There’s plenty of ways to make money online  while still falling underneath the umbrella of creative writing jobs. As an example, there are a number of jobs for lonely suitors who want to hire writers to â€Å"catfish† on their behalf. On websites like Plenty of Fish and OkCupid, writers can compose creative messages to stir the hearts and minds of potential mates. While you may cringe from the ethics of it, or feel that you’re wasting your English degree, it’s work, and it pays. Creative Writing Competitor The job title may sound a little clunky and pompous, but if you’re looking for a legitimate supplement to your income, why not consider regularly participating in writing contests?   Of all the creative writing jobs listed, this may provide a sizeable income for poets who may have few other opportunities to make a living. Street Writer There’s nothing like strolling down a city street, only to be met with a musician plying their trade in song. Luckily for writers, these spontaneous opportunities are available, too. If you have a talent for poetry and wish to experiment with an unorthodox career path, why not selling your writing and/or compose poems for people strolling by? While it may seem uncouth and embarrassing at first, you can distribute your work to a wider audience and get paid for it. Even famous authors like Richard Brautigan began their career this way. And now that vintage is in vogue, all you need is a typewriter and a sign advertising your services. Poems for $1? Sure, why not! Depending on which city you live in, you may need to apply for a street-performers/buskers license from the city hall before setting up shop. For a small fee, you can create a job of your own. * * * When your relatives tell you to not quit your day job, you can tell them how many jobs there actually are for writers today. This list, of course, is only the tip of the iceberg for creative writing jobs. To be honest, anywhere that you’ve seen writing, ask yourself the following question: â€Å"How did they get that job?† Chances are you can find that job (or ones similar) by doing a little deductive research.

How Successful Was Lenins Attempt to Create an...

How successful was Lenin’s attempt to create an alternative modernity in Russia by 1929? Overview The aim of this essay is to discuss how successful Lenin’s policies were in his attempt to create an alternative modernity in Russia by his death in 1924. By scrutinizing his actions and their individual impacts in relation to the desired modernity, historians can assess whether Lenin achieved the socialist dream he sought for. I will break down the essay into three components from which I can individually conclude their successfulness as an alternative modernity. These shall be established in the introduction. Introduction The introduction will firstly discuss the crisis of modernity in the inter-war period in order to put Lenin’s rise†¦show more content†¦In this case practical needs were judged more important than ideological needs as reversal of many reforms concerning women were deemed essential to the regimes survival. Other cultural revolts that must be assessed include the attitude and dealings with the Orthodox Church, the use of arts and popular culture and the rise of propaganda. Conclusion The conclusion will state that Lenin did create of form of modernity that was different from anything politics had ever seen and that he did enjoy variations of success in comparison to the state of tsar ruled Russia, however this success was often limited and short lived. Lenin had to adapt his Marxist beliefs many times in order to make them a feasible option for Russia. Indeed, he did successfully create an alternative modernity but he failed to obtain the socialist utopia which was his ultimate goal as practical want trumped the ideological battle. The quest for an alternative modernity was never meant to happen in Lenin’s lifetime, he was merely the instigator for what he hoped would develop into his idea of a perfect community. In this light, historians must conclude that Lenin was successful in achieving the starting point from which a utopia could

Discrimination was a prominent theme in Gattaca. In the movie directed by Andrew Niccol, Vincent Freeman is conceived without the help of genetic engineering, which had become the primary way of having a child. As a result of Vincent s parents decision to conceive him naturally, Vincent suffered from myopia and a congenital heart defect; along with a life expectancy of only 30.2 years, he was prone to discrimination in a society where your DNA determined your social class. Children conceived naturally like Vincent were considered the underclass and invalids; because of this, they were subjected to perform jobs that took minimal skills. What Makes a Hero Essay example - 583 Words

What Makes a Hero After spending over a week reading the story Beowulf, we can all come to the conclusion that he is a hero. Sure, he saves countries from monsters, has incredible strength and wisdom, and is fearless- the typical fictional hero. However, when I hear the word hero, I think in terms of an everyday hero. In my mind, a hero is someone who performs courageous acts even if the consequences can be fatal. A hero doesnt have to be some big muscled guy who beats up bad guys. My example of a hero is a fireman. He/she knows that they might be killed rescuing someone from a burning building, yet they still go in. Why? Probably for the honor and glory that people will give them. Now that we know my definition of a hero,†¦show more content†¦Beowulf was not expecting another monster so he was a caught by surprise a little. Also, Beowulf had a harder time defeating Grendels mother than he did with killing Grendel. In this fight, I think Beowulf was fighting more in self-defense tha n in a heroic sense. He really had no choice other to fight. If he didnt fight, however, he would be considered a chicken. So, is Beowulf a hero for killing Grendels mother? Yes and no. Yes, because he knew that fighting Grendels mother could kill him. No, because he was really fighting in self-defense. As the story continues, Beowulf returns back to the Geats and becomes King when Hygelac dies. While Beowulf was ruler, he did not encounter any major battles for 50 winters (years). Everything was nice and peaceful until one day a thief decided to go to a dragons lair and steal something for the king. The dragon is sleeping when the item is stolen so the thief got away, but when the dragon wakes up, all hell breaks loose. The dragon gets furious and travels to the castle and burns it down. Beowulf, now around 70-80 years old, hears of the dragon that is terrorizing his kingdom decides that it is his responsibility to protect his people. He has the blacksmith make him a special iron shield and calls for Wicglaf, a warrior that is very much like Beowulf when he was younger. Is Saltwater Desalination the Best Solution to Water Shortages in the United States Free Essays

string(172) " the technology and its easy implementation has been one of the motivating factors towards its adoption as a major solution to current crisis of water shortage \(Tonner\)\." As a matter of scientific fact, the vast majority of the surface area of our planet is covered in water; ironically enough, however, a great deal of this water cannot be consumed by human beings in its natural state, as it is salt water, which could only be consumed by human beings after undergoing desalination. This is a process through which the ions that make water saline are removed through various means and technologies, chief among them reversed osmosis (RO), thereby making the water suitable for humans to drink. Desalination is a process that is undertaken in sea or ocean water which by in large contains the most saline of all the water in the world. We will write a custom essay sample on Is Saltwater Desalination the Best Solution to Water Shortages in the United States? or any similar topic only for you Order Now Desalination is an increasingly popular process, necessitated by shortages in domestic and industrial water supplies. For all of its present day popularity, desalination is not a new concept; rather, it is a technology that has been in use since the 18th century in southern Florida, which to this day hosts desalination units. Currently, this technology is the method of choice for gulf nations that are found within dessert terrains that rarely produce any fresh water supplies for consumption, as evidenced by recent reports showing a major water crisis looming in the horizon. These reports forecast that in the next five years, at least 36 states face substantial water shortages, supported by the shrinking water levels of major dams across the states and the shrinking of the Great lakes. Fresh water sources can no longer stand up or match up with the demand of the constantly increasing population of the US. This is most acutely felt in marine ecosystems where there is a problem in reducing the levels of salinity and also the brine discharge system, causing an imbalance in marine ecosystems (Tonner 11). History of Water Shortage All over the world, water that is mainly found in reservoirs like dams, lakes and waterways like rivers is relied heavily upon for replenishment of municipal water supplies; these supplies provide water for both commercial and residential use. All these are regarded as fresh water sources since the water comes naturally, mostly through rainfall. With the advent of global climatic changes, there has been a decline in the amount of rainfall; the patterns of the rains have become irregular and they rarely conform to expected time frames or the duration. The other factor that has not aided the water shortage debate is the general rise in global temperatures. This has led to increase in the rates of water evaporation from water reservoirs. Since rainfall in most cases is declining or there is a general atmosphere of drought griping the sphere in general, meaning that the rate of water uptake from the sources (through evaporation and uptake by man) and the rate of replenishment by rain do not match. It is quite obvious that with declining input of water into the reservoirs and the increasing abstraction of water, water levels will keep declining exponentially, creating a huge problem (Tonner). Temperature problems do not end there, because rising sea levels have been occurring through melting of glaciers in the arctic and Antarctica sub-continents. Increasing water levels serve to push saline water into the underground water supplies, thereby increasing the amount of saline in circulation and decreasing fresh water. With growth in industrialization, enormous environmental challenges present themselves. Waste products from industries are degrading the environment at an alarming rate, with these waste products usually finding their way into fresh water sources and catchments areas. The end result is unusable water and a host of other problems. Industries themselves require enormous amount of water to operate and at the same time their effluents also requires a lot of treatment so that it can be discharged into the water ways without modification of the marine and water ecology in general. Population growth and explosion does not lessen the burden therefore it is bringing more troubles. The number of persons globally is increasing but the sources of fresh water are not increasing thereby exerting great pressures on the existing water sources. Real estate development in general is also a part of the problem, which can be seen in the way many buildings are constructed over water catchments, leaving very little land that can allow percolation of water into the underground aquifer, which encourages the driving of the little available rain water to the ocean in order to avoid flooding. With the advent of these severe climate changes and dry spells, water levels began shrinking at an alarming rate. This alarmed local authorities, leading them to warn the general public to conserve water and use it wisely. In order to make their pleas to be understood by the public, they resorted to the extreme measure of water rationing. When water rationing started, it was a clear warning; it was then that the general public awoke to the reality that a global crisis was at hand (Tonner 6). After looking into all viable options of providing water to many thirsty citizens, the only option that guaranteed a steady supply and cheap means was desalination. This was preferred after looking closely at the cost of infrastructure in terms of pipes and the cost of maintenance of the dams. In the recent times, those centrally placed states that were endowed with large water resources, used to share their water with their unfortunate neighbors in the arid regions of the south west areas. The cost of pumping that water and the maintenance of the complex piping system proved a too much burden to bear and its viability with time almost impossible. The dwindling resources of water also were not showing sustenance of the venture in the long term. All these when combined, were pointing to desalination as the only viable option and that was current with prevailing economic circumstance. The advancement in the technology and its easy implementation has been one of the motivating factors towards its adoption as a major solution to current crisis of water shortage (Tonner). You read "Is Saltwater Desalination the Best Solution to Water Shortages in the United States?" in category "Papers" This process is drought-proof, thereby making it operational all year round, despite the dramatic climatic changes. All that is necessary is availability of sea water and sufficient power to drive the machines that are involved in this process and which usually require a lot of energy (Tonner 11). Participants in this Venture On the fore front of desalination efforts is the UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program) which is involved with maintaining a clean environment. Support of this venture comes from the motivation of providing water to a thirst planet. Since this organization is involved with the environment, it is in the organization’s best interest to make sure that all the technologies that are enacted for use in providing essential services will not lead to the biodegrading of the environment and adding of more problems rather than solving the already existing problems. This institution will be involved in putting down the necessary legislation that will act as the guideline when it comes to issues that are pertinent to the environment and its preservation. Closely following the proceedings and implementation of this program is the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) which knows very well the side effects of the climatic change and the need to address the shortage of water around the globe. For the process to gain popularity around the world, IPPC has to do a lot of campaign on the viability of the project and trying to silence the proponents that will argue in the favor of the impacts that the project it would have on the environment and the ecosystem especially the marine ecosystem. Ocean conservancy is another very instrumental organization that has to be consulted in order to give the project a go head as the proposed project would be drawing its raw material (water) from the ocean, the negative impacts on the ecology and marine organisms notwithstanding. At the top of the list of concerns is whether water is a basic human right or it will be turned into an economic resource, only available to those few members of the society who can afford it (Tonner). The program will see the disruption of the normal saline environment for marine organisms which may lead to loss of endemic species that are unique to that area. However big the reward of this proposed project is, the negative impacts on other organisms cannot be overlooked because the reality would soon hit home and would therefore end up in creating a bigger problem than the one that is there. The other organizations involved in this venture fully are the Water Management Boards of respective Counties in the individual states. These boards are at the centre of the storm since they must provide water to the thirsty masses. Innovation comes as the core business of the boards in order to look into neo ways of circumventing the problems bedeviling them (Tonner 7). Resolving the Water Shortage Issue Clearly, as the research has indicated, there is a massive water shortage that will have an increasingly negative effect on the people of the world, especially in light of growing human populations, increased use of water by households and industry, and pollution which is harming the environment and decreasing available water supplies. Therefore, the question of how to resolve the water shortage issue is an increasingly important one to answer. Of course, the water supply on the earth is limited, in both fresh and salt water varieties. Therefore, the focus in stopping water shortages is to simultaneously make as much fresh and salt water available for both industrial and home users, which is possible through a variety of means (Tonner). First, the fresh water that is available on the planet must be conserved, which can be achieved through several different methods. Conservation starts with every home and business water user; simple steps to avoid wasting water in the first place will go a long way in terms of reducing the amount of water that literally goes down the drain every day. This, however, is not enough. In both homes and businesses, it is essential that the equipment that uses water be kept in prime working condition, with broken or inefficient equipment being replaced in favor of equipment that will not waste water. Also, as discussed earlier, there are environmental steps which can be used to prevent the wasting of fresh water, including smart real estate development, the prevention of the pollution of water supplies by individuals and industry, and the like. All of these steps will in fact help to save fresh water supplies to a large extent. Another water supply which has been discussed in this paper is desalinized salt water which can be used for human consumption once it has been properly prepared via the many desalinization plants that are found across the US today. Since there is vast salt water to be found on earth today, if it is properly desalinized, there is a great deal of available water. Once again, however, this must be conserved for the good of the growing society. Preserving the Environment In any case, wherever water comes from, the environment must be protected at all costs, for if there is no planet left for people to enjoy, there is little point in trying to do anything with water, as the human race will not be around to reap the benefits of the water itself. This reflects back to the previous discussion in regard to fresh and salt water supplies; there are in fact ways to be able to provide sufficient water supplies without destroying the environment. This will, of course, require the involvement of international, national, state and local authorities all working together. This is especially important considering the fact that pollution from other parts of the world certainly affects the US, and vice versa. Therefore, the world community must in fact act as a sort of environmental police force so that those who would cause damage to the environment are held accountable, not only for the sake of the planet but also for the sake of the water supplies that are now in the process of being conserved (Tonner). Overall, what is seen in the relationship between a safe environment and clean water supplies is the fact that neither can exist without the other. If people abuse water supplies, the planet will eventually be unable to sustain human life. On the other hand, if the planet is destroyed, water availability immediately becomes a non-issue. As such, this immediately becomes everyone’s problem, and of course, everyone must play a role in the solution of the problem. These solutions are both big and small, but all important just the same. Conclusion Water desalination is the only way out for the water crisis that is facing US and the rest of the world at large. However there are underlying issues that need to be addressed before the implementation of national projects. These issues range from environmental to human health issues. Fundamental questions have to be addressed as to why should our solution to the current water problem lie in the seas and oceans whereas there are waivers that are granted according to the clean water act which allows agriculture to continue polluting our water catchments areas with fertilizers. Before moving our pollution to the ocean, we must address the mess that we have caused on land, as this problem will not go away by itself. The most common excuse that has been circulating around is that cleaning of pollution is very costly and expensive. However this pollution has been caused by man and before handing the mandate of polluting the ocean now to the private sector, first we should deal with the mess on land. Task 4: Demonstration of Acquired Interpersonal and Transferable Skills Problem 1: Team Dynamics: When working in a team project, the most frequent problem I faced was related to team dynamics. The coordination among the team members were significantly poor causing good amount of confusion and miscommunication, ultimately affecting the project development. The obvious challenge was to cooperate with the team members for carrying out a specific activity involved in the project. Therefore, most of the time there was quite a lot of confusion, conflict and disagreement before reaching to a final decision or conclusion. Factors: Lack of trust, confusion and miscommunication Causes: There are no trust among the team members and the relationship among the team members are not good well Solution: In order to solve this issue, a formal approach has to followed. The formal problem solving technique involves identifying the major areas or sources of the specific problem and then distinguishes between the potential alternatives to solve the problem. The best possible solution is therefore selected. For this problem, solutions to be adopted are as follows: Conducting regular team meetings Seeking relevant and useful feedbacks, suggestions and ideas from the team members Establishing freedom of speech, expressing thoughts and issues and ultimately follow effective communication methods The particular target areas for applying the solution approach are to be undertaken at the time of initiating or building the project team. The target areas are communication planning, adaptability and decision-making activities. Problem 2: Diversity: Another significant problem was in relation to the diverse work group that I was involved. The impacts of diversity were obviously creating several issues such as communication gap or problems to cope up with the present culture and work place surroundings. Factors: Surroundings of the workplace and diverse culture Causes: Different people working together under the same roof were essentially resulting to frequent issues and friction from time to time. Sometimes, different cultures cause problems to the individuals working in the organization, as their own ideas are not matching with each other. Solution: The formal approach to resolve this particular issue involves identifying the main factors of the problem such as diversity related factors viz. race, gender, culture or religion. Then the probable alternative courses of actions to address the problem are to be identified. After evaluating the alternatives, the most suitable course of action is selected. It involves: Addressing individual issues focusing on different points of feedback received from each individual Encouraging the participants or team members to interact with each other with a purpose of identifying diversity related issues Apart from that, other methods and techniques include encouraging contribution from individual ideas and viewpoints in decision-making activities. Therefore, the challenges of diversity in workplace can be effectively mitigated by establishing increased adaptability, encouraging uniformity and fairness. Furthermore, the barriers among the work group caused by diversification should be balanced in a way to take advantage of the individualities and differences. 4.b: Demonstration of Communication Based Class Activities during Development Structure In the presentation given by me as part of my course schedule, I took an in-depth research to be able to build an attractive and appealing structure. Volume The volume of my presentation was appropriate to yield the interest of my viewers. Pace I maintained a smooth and consistent pace throughout the period of my presentation, expressed, and delivered the information in a most comprehensible manner. Body Language Throughout my presentation, I maintain consistent eye contact with my audience and assessor. I showed enough confidence while delivering my speech on the stage. Timing I maintained a proper time and balanced the division of my time span for each of the slides in my presentation. Energy and Commitment My team members and I were adequately enthusiastic throughout the delivery of speech to keep the audience interested. Other Comments I maintained better ethics with my teammates for maintaining appropriate team dynamics and coordination. 4.c: Identification of Effective Time Management Strategies TO DO LIST A NEED TO DO (6-10) B DO NOW (1-5) C (A - B) D ORDER OF PRIORITY/WHEN Identify my strengths Carry out a detail SWOT analysis plan based on my current skills and expertise Carry out and be able to maintain a diary of my personal and professional improvements I have already developed the plan for carrying out my self-managed learning activity.
